Security Door: Added a Secure Safety Door with intercom and camera controls at Haleyville Elementary School.
Bringing World History to Life: Teachers from Haleyville High School now have an interactive smartboard to improve the learning process in the classroom.
STEAM Learning: Haleyville City School purchased 25 Chromebooks and 25 Chrome Licenses to improve STEAM learning at the high school.
Environmental STEAM: Lynn Elementary School established an Outdoor Classroom with learning stations. Each grade level adopted different learning stations to maintain and grow the classroom.
LCD Projectors: Funds were used to purchase a new 75” screen for Lynn High School. With this addition each classroom in the school has LCD projectors.
Basketball Court Improvements: Improvements at Hamner Memorial Park’s baseball court, enhancements the park’s impact to the Town of Arley.
Anti-Drug & Bullying Material: Double Springs Police Dept. educated students about the dangers of drugs & bullying at the Elementary and Middle School.
Outdoor Recreation: The Town of Natural Bridge used funds to purchase benches and picnic tables for the Natural Bridge Community Center.
Digital Sign: Winston County Board of Education uses the sign to communicate with parents and community about events at Double Springs Elementary School.
Learning at Home: Provided six laptops for Winston County School’s Center for Academic Learning, providing a learning path for academics in grades 3-12.
Service Vehicle: The Northwest Regional Library System headquarters in Winfield, serving Marion, Franklin, and Lamar Counties was using a 1998 Chevrolet to deliver processed and shelf ready items to all 8-member libraries. This grant provided new transportation for these purposes.
Agri-science Program: Franklin County Extension Office purchased educational materials needed for a countywide Agri-Science Program.
Eco-Cold Storage: Build an eco-walk-in cooler for food storage at Main Street Ministries in Double Springs. Construction involved Winston County Extension Office, Haleyville Center of Technology, Haleyville High School, Haleyville City Board of Education, STEM Program, Winston County Diabetes Support Coalition, and the Haleyville Community Foundation.
Envirothon Competition: Franklin County students attended education programs focused on groundwater, water conservation, and pollution prevention.
Hands on Liberty: Program taught crucial lessons in civics, character financial literacy and social studies in Colbert, Franklin, Marion, and Lauderdale counties.
Chromebooks for Kindergarten: Funds went to purchase 25 Google Chromebooks and cart for students at Phil Campbell Elementary School.
Baseball Field Renovations: Provided new netting & padding to the front dugout rails at Phil Campbell High School, helping prevent injuries.
Technology Improvements: Provided Phil Campbell High School students with access to PHET simulators and to research info regarding multiple topics.
E-Kindle Tables: Purchased 64 Kindle Fire Tablets for Tharptown Elementary School, allowing students to utilize MobyMax.
Softball Field Upgrades: Replaced old fencing at backstop netting Vina High School, and funded construction of a new block dugout.
Enhancing Technology College Readiness: Purchase chrome books at Russellville High School, enhancing student computer access.
It’s a Dickens Christmas Y’all: Purchased print advertising and billboards to promote the Annual It’s a Dickens Festival in Tuscumbia, AL, thereby increasing sales for the downtown brick and mortar shops, restaurants, and vendors.
Healing Hearts Project: Purchase books for children during group and individual sessions on grief support and education services to children and families in Colbert, Lauderdale and Franklin counties.
Keep the Homeless Cool: Northwest AL Housing Services operates a homeless day center called Sunrise Center in Sheffield, AL. This grant purchased two new HVAC units for the facilities and to update the transitional living apartment.
Equipment to maintain grounds: Helped purchase a new mower for LaGrange Living History Association, in Leighton, AL to aid the ground keeper and keep the site well maintained for visitors.
Stage Addition & Lighting: Colbert Heights High School added additional lighting & replaced old lighting in the auditorium for productions & assembly.
Match Force Technology: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Shoals, Inc. purchased base fees for staff members which matched 180 children with mentors.
Farm-to-Table Event: Promote technical events benefiting farmers and producers to ensure better pastures and crop lands in Lauderdale County.
Advancement of Students Learning: Purchased two new interactive touch screen boards for Brilliant Elementary School students to get hands on learning.
Brighten Brilliant: Brilliant High School painted the hallways school colors to grow student morale and brighten school.
Physical Education and Athletics: Hackleburg High School purchased an ice machine for the gym to provide ice for hurt students & other injuries needing ice.
Restroom Renovation: Guin Park & Recreation restrooms were made ADA compliant by installing handicap access.
Disc Golf Course: Ivan K. Hill Park rebuilt the disc golf course.
Band Equipment Upgrades: Hackleburg High School Band of Gold purchased baritones, trumpets and xylophone with carriers for students to play.
Baseball Field Safety Updates: New equipment such as catcher gear, baseballs and infield mix were purchased for Phillips High School.
Firefighter Equipment and Safety: Byrd Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department purchased updated Automated External Defibrillators for the Rescue Vehicle and Firehouse Common Room to better serve the community.
Automotive Simulation Training: Purchased an automotive components simulation trainer is a gas multipoint engine chassis with an anti-lock braking system and hydraulic power steering system for Allen Thorton Career Tech Center.
Electrical Safety Training: Lauderdale County School completed on-site school electrical inspections along with Toolkit demonstration of electrical components.
Equipment Upgrades: Northwest Alabama Reading Aides, Inc. provides free-one-on one tutoring for adults English, stroke survivors and mentally challenged students. Purchased workbooks, citizenship guides and a new copier.
Repairs & Updates: The Senior Community in Elgin provides a meeting place for events such as family reunions and birthday parties. This project helped with building supplies and general upkeep of the building for much needed repairs.
Financial Literacy: Provided the Children’s Museum of the Shoals a new exhibit to provide children with important hands-on learning focused on financial literacy.
Storage and Seating Project: Installed cabinets, countertops & chairs for Winfield Community Center providing a better meeting place for many in the community.
Drama & Chorus Club: Hackleburg Elementary School Drama purchased t-shirts for club members, costumes for end-of year production, a portable speaker system for school events and equipment to enhance the school’s performances.
Search and Rescue Mobile Command Center: Radio and cellular service in the forest is next to zero in certain places in the Bankhead National Forest. The Winston County Sheriff’s office was able to purchase equipment to establish a mobile command center to better serve that community.
Alloys Park Boat Ramp: Boat motors had displaced soft soil at the end of the concrete ramp, causing a hole to form. The wheels of boat trailers would get hung on the lip of the ramp if they backed in too far. This project filled the hole with stone so trailers could safely back further into the water.
Water Department Training: Provided safety training for the Town of Lexington Water Department crew on use of a mini excavator, loading and unloading equipment on a trailer and the proper way to tow equipment.
HVAC Replacement: Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council received a new HVAC unit to help the historic Roxy Theater in downtown Russellville.
Coroner Refrigeration: Purchase a refrigeration unit to establish an independent Coroner’s office to serve the community of Winston County.
Train Depot & Coal Mining: The Historical Train Depot received new porches so schools and community can enjoy the depot as they visit historic Brilliant.
Technology for Senior Play: Haleyville City Schools received a portable sound system at the high school to be used with the Senior Play and other venues.
Regional PPE: Personal protective equipment (PPE) plays a critical role in protecting frontline workers and mitigating the spread of COVID-19. The Colbert County EMA Department in neighboring Franklin, Lauderdale, Marion, and Winston Counties to distribute gloves, N95, and surgical masks.
Stage Makeover: Improve the growth in popularity of the music industry among students by providing an outdoor stage makeover at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. This will also be used for drive-in concerts, especially during the pandemic.
Shoals Creek Markers & Resource Management System: A Cloud based resource management system was purchased for the Florence-Lauderdale EMA. Along with, markers for Shoals Creek for rapid response to assist people in need.
Vietnam Memorial: The Vietnam memorial in Sheffield was established 30 years ago and needed repair. To revitalize the site, new landscaping was done and the plaque, which includes the names of local heroes who gave their lives in Vietnam, was replaced.
