Welcome to the Northwest Alabama RC&D Council
The purpose of our volunteer organization is to provide the local leadership required for developing and carrying out a plan for conservation, improvement and development. We promote wise use of natural and human resources thereby improving economic opportunities and the general well being of all the people in the Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development Council area. The Northwest Alabama RC&D Council consists of Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Marion, and Winston Counties.
Northwest Alabama is a community-driven collaboration of many partners, the communication and hard work between all these pieces make it work. The local, state and national RC&D network is a powerful way to help people change their communities for the better. Get involved with your local RC&D Council and help make things happen!
RC&D in Alabama depends on the leadership abilities and unique skills within the communities it serves. That is why so many worthwhile projects have been undertaken and accomplished throughout the state. A significant accomplishment of RC&D is the rekindling of community spirit. There are so many ways to describe RC&D; however it is basically people doing things for other people. In essence, it is local people identifying their problems and opportunities and dealing with them, with a little help from the government and from others.
The RC&D Councils in Alabama are proud of their accomplishments; but there is much yet that can be done to make our communities a better place to live. The Association is dedicated to protecting, enhancing, and developing the state’s natural and human resources.
