Northwest RC&D Council
Located in Northwestern Alabama, the mission of The Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development Council is to implement and promote impact, driven projects and activities designed to promote the sustainability and productivity of the abundant, natural and human resources of our five-county, target area while improving the quality of life within the community.
We provide services to Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Marion, and Winston Counties.
Each RC&D Grant Project helps Alabama communities grow and prosper. Helping make Northwest Alabama a better place to Live, Work, and Play! We award funding through grants for special projects that enhance our human and natural resources to improve the quality of life for a better future for tomorrow.

- Who can benefit from RC&D? We award grant funding opportunities to 501c3 non-profit organizations and units and sub-units of government for special projects that enhance our human and natural resources to improve the quality of life for local Alabama citizens.
- What types of projects are funded? We fund projects that fall into two categories: Education Fund Projects and General Fund Projects. An Education Fund Project must have an educational component. All projects without an educational component are considered General Fund Projects.
- Which Council do you contact? If the project will be completed in Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Marion, or Winston Counties, select Northwest RC&D Council
- When do you apply for grant funding? All RC&D projects run on a fiscal year cycle, beginning on October 1. Applications are reviewed before October 1 to ensure all approved projects may begin at the start of the fiscal year.
